The Australian Defense force has 4 arms: the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Special Operations Command. Australia has no conscription and accepts candidates at least 17 years old. Women are given non-combat rolls only. Currently there are just under 5 million males and 4,870,043 females in uniform. There are an estimated 4,137,176 males who are fit for military service and 4,022,588 females who are. Another 144,934 males and 13,511 females become eligible each year. Military expenditures were 2.4% of the GDP (2006).
